Annika Hampel studied Applied Cultural Sciences at universities in Lüneburg and Passau (Germany), focused on intercultural and international arts education and organization. Her Master thesis about museums' shops was published in 2008. In April 2014 she completed her PhD thesis at the Department of Cultural Policy at the University of Hildesheim (Germany) about international collaboration in the arts with the title 'Fair Cooperation?', based on 81 experts' interviews with German and Indian cultural professionals in Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai in the years 2012 and 2013 (in cooperation with the Goethe-Institute India). Before and while her PhD studies Annika Hampel worked as International Student Coordinator and Event Coordinator at the International Relations Center of the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne and as an Academic Associate at the Department of Cultural Policy of the University of Hildesheim (event organization, teaching, internationalization). She assisted among others at the Goethe-Institute Ghana in West Africa, the Goethe-Institute Bolivia in South America and the Senate for Culture in Bremen (Germany), coordinating and managing cultural events and projects. In 2012/2013 she designed a glossary about German foreign cultural and educational policy and practice for the Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa). Two times Annika Hampel received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for her education und professional experiences abroad. After high school Annika Hampel successfully completed an apprenticeship as foreign language correspondence clerk. In her spare time she writes, paints and travels in Asia, Africa and South America.
