Werner Oechslin studied art history, archaeology, philosophy, and mathematics in Zurich and Rome. He taught at MIT in Cambridge and at the Universities of Bonn and Geneva. Since 1985 he has been a professor of the history of art and architecture at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) Zürich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich). In 1987 he was a guest professor at Harvard University. From 1986 to 2006 he was director of the Institut für Geschichte und Theorie der Architektur (Institute for the History and Theory of Architecture). He is the author of numerous publications on architectural history, architectural theory, and art history. Werner Oechslin is the founder and founding donor of the Stiftung Bibliothek Werner Oechslin (Werner Oechslin Library Foundation) in Einsiedeln.
Heinrich Wefing is an arts and culture correspondent for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (one of Germany's leading newspapers) in Berlin und primarily works on topics in cultural politics, city planning, and architecture.
